Reflection
Experience
This semester was much more intense than the first semester, and tested our exploration and open research in type design. In this semester, although the assignments were very tight, I was happy to keep up with the pace and get advice from Vinod sir, which was crucial for me because Vinod sir's advice provided a lot of inspiration and help for my designs. I enjoyed this semester and the open nature of the assignments allowed me to do some of my favorite designs.
Observation
This semester, I focused on observing various typographic details. In Task 1, we analyzed different layouts in different typographic systems and studied common typographic elements in daily life. Task 2 required us to explore the relationship between brand logo design and its corresponding theme. In Task 3, we delved into the complexity of making a complete font, including letter proportions (such as height and width) and the spacing between characters.
Findings
This semester, I realized that typography is deeply rooted in our daily lives, and designing typographic works requires thorough research and exploration to push boundaries and cultivate creativity. Although it is normal to make mistakes in the design process, these mistakes provide valuable learning experiences. Typographic knowledge is not limited to typographic works - it can be applied to various fields such as website design and video production, enhancing creativity and communication skills. Learning typography this semester has greatly helped me grow and deepened my understanding of design. Overall, this semester has been a very meaningful and memorable journey.
